Report (1994 - 1996)
Achievements
For the badminton year 1994-1995, Presentation College entered the secondary schools' badminton tournament, which we dominated both at the junior and senior levels. This is no surprise since we have done this in previous years.
In the prestigious caribbean badminton championship (carebaco), held in Jamaica, Trinidad sent a team of four (4) juniors, three (3) of which came from Presentation College, San Fernando. Trinidad placed second in the team events, succumbing only to the host country
Jamaica.
The 1995-1996 badminton year saw pres assert itself as the number on school in the country. Winning all tournaments on a national level on medal count, it was inevitable that pres occupy five of eight places on the national badminton team in
1996.
On a regional level our team has gained respect in leading Trinidad and Tobago to a second place finish in the Caribbean championships team tournament and with all of our players winning at least one medal in the individual competition. Several members also represented Trinidad and Tobago at the Pan American games in Puerto Rico in september 1996. The team would also like to congratulate Arthur Alexander for being nominated for the Witco sports man of the year 1996. Also the team would like to thank St. Augustine Girls High School and Naparima Girls High School for being our partners in all major tournaments. Last but in no way least we would like to thank Brother Michael for his support in never refusing our requests for shuttles and the use of the auditorium. With most of our seniors leaving in 1997 they have left a legacy of success and sportsmanship for the juniors that they are certain to follow in keeping with the Pres spirit.

Swim team report 1995-1996.

1995 & 1996 proved to be slow years for the Presentation College swim team.
The age old promise of a swimming pool at the Presentation College grounds finally took off with a blast (literally), and the team's and everyone's hopes for a pool by September 1995 grew high. Team members seemed to come to school earlier as if to expect a pool to be built overnight. September came and September went, and our hopes were rewarded with the newest addition to the Presentation College school grounds - two ponds.
We were then promised increased work on the 'ponds', and the completion of this 20-year-old dream by March 1996. This deadline too came and went, and the work increased to the point at which they were pumping out water from one pond into the other. The swim team members are currently looking at the expected time of the completion of the project which was stated to be "later this year, with the cooperation of the Army and the contractors".
The team competed and placed fourth (4th) overall in the non-competitive group at the 1996 secondary school's swimming intercol, held at the Flying Fish Pool in the St. Mary's College grounds on the 28th of January, 1996.
Amongst outstanding performers were:
Mark Ramjalacksingh, the team captain, placing 10th in the men's 5Om breaststroke, Vaughan Callender, placing 8th in the men's SOm freestyle and 6th in the men's 50m backstroke, Daniel Cockburn, placing 13th in the men's 5Om freestyle,
Richard Aaron, placing 15th in the men's 5Om freestyle and 12th in the men's 5Om backstroke, Riyadh Khan, placing 13th in the men's 5Om backstroke, Richard Boodoo, placing 5th overall in the men's 13-14 5Om freestyle and 17th in the 5Om breaststroke, Marc Allum, placing 10th in the men's 13-14 5Om backstroke and 16th in the SOm breaststroke, Jason Broooks, placing 3rd in the U-12 5Om breaststroke, Damian Spencer, placing 9th in the U-I 2 50m freestyle and 4th in the 5Om breaststroke, Raphial Jones, placing 9th in the U-12 5Om backstroke and 5th in the 5Om breaststroke, Philip Lewis, placing 11th in the U-12 5Om freestyle, 10th in the 5Om backstroke, and 10th in the 5Om breastroke,
Our relay teams also excelled, the 12&Under team placing 3rd overall, the 13-
14 team placin 4th overall, and the 15&over team placing 4th overall.
In 1997, the team hopes to gain an advantage off the postponement of the 1997 swimming intercol by training in the increased time, to repeat the feat attained in 1991, when we were crowned champions in the non-competitive category.
The team is also carded to compete in the 1997 Pepsi Swimming Classic, to be held at the Flying Fish Pool on the 15th of February 1997.
VaughanCallender,
Team Captain 96-97.
